East wicklow business network - Business Health & Safety: basic CPR and defibrillator

East Wicklow Business Network Hosts Successful CPR Training Event in Collaboration with Greystones Fire Brigade

The East Wicklow Business Network, in collaboration with the Greystones Fire Brigade, conducted a highly successful CPR training event at Templecarrig School on the 21st February. The event aimed to equip local business owners and staff with essential life-saving skills while raising funds for Wicklow Rapid Response, a voluntary organization.

The evening witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Main Street business community, where unfortunate cardiac incidents have occurred in recent years. Attendees engaged in hands-on CPR and Defibrillator training, guided by the experienced Greystones Fire Brigade personnel. The event also welcomed the Wicklow Rapid Response team, with attendees generously contributing to support their valuable efforts.

Lorraine Gaskin, a committee member of the East Wicklow Business Network, emphasized the network's commitment to supporting local businesses beyond financial considerations. She stated, "Creating a community of businesses in the local area is what we have set out to achieve. The feedback from this evening has been very positive, and it is great to see businesses learning vital skills while also strengthening community bonds."

Mark Atkins, another committee member of the East Wicklow Business Network and a member of the Greystones Fire Brigade, stressed the importance of sharing life skills like CPR. He expressed gratitude to the Greystones Fire Crew and Wicklow Fire Service for their voluntary participation and Templecarrig School principal, Alan Cox, for offering the school's facilities for the event.

Atkins added, "The feedback from the business owners this evening is very encouraging, and we hope to organize similar events in the future. With numerous defibrillators in Greystones and surrounding areas, our focus now is to ensure people have the confidence and knowledge to use them if required."
